About Us
Patients United is a national non-profit (501c3) organization dedicated to making healthcare about patients. Healthcare transformation is long overdue, but has not been possible because patients have had no voice. We are changing that. We will fulfill President Lincoln’s powerfully stated American ideal of not only government, but healthcare, “of the people, by the people, and for the people."
We are independent, and non-partisan. We are exactly who we say we are and who our name says we are. We are not a fake front for an industry group with a fake name (which has become way too common and should be illegal).
We advocate for healthcare that best serves the citizens of this country, regardless of model of healthcare system. What matters is that we the people decide on whatever system we will design, versus business interests or politics that do not have patients interests as the highest priority shaping our healthcare.
Together we will drive and shape healthcare transformation. We are the voice and hands and feet of patients, fighting for each other for when we are at our most vulnerable and in need of each other’s help. We will make healthcare what it could and should be. We are all patients. We are all healers.

Principles in Practice
Healthcare has to work for all. But it has to have a very clear order of priorities — different priorities than presently exist — and they look like this:

Founder
Marc Braman is a physician dedicated to making healthcare what he wants when he is the patient, and serves as “Lead Patient”. He previously spent years building the new medical field of Lifestyle Medicine — "treating the cause" of most modern disease and not just symptoms — by building the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. He was a founding member, second President, and first Executive Director.
Marc’s only sibling died in front of him in a car accident when he was 8 years old and his brother 6. Marc cared for his physician father, and then his mother, through their treatment and deaths from cancer, and has immediate family members with serious chronic conditions. His mother was a social worker who was one of the first to enter Romania after the fall of communism seeking to help the many tens of thousands of institutionalized orphans, and was one of the most caring human beings one is likely to ever meet. He continues her legacy of helping hurting people by building healthcare for the people.
